About the Founder
Stacy Benjamin has proven expertise in defining, executing, and leading design efforts based on
a user-centered approach. Stacy worked at IDEO Product Development, first in Boston and then
in Chicago, for 9 years. In that time she worked as a mechanical engineer and senior project
manager on projects in the medical, business, industrial, and consumer industries, as well as
managed many of the office operations. Major clients included Eli Lilly, Baxter, Abbott, Teradyne,
Proctor and Gamble, Polaroid, SC Johnson Wax and BriteSmile. Stacy also helped create and
teach the project management course, developed budget and resource tracking tools, and led
and participated numerous IDEO-U’s, or innovation workshops.
In addition to consulting, Stacy is currently teaching courses in design process at Northwestern
University’s Segal Design Institute. She is the lead instructor for the Segal core course sequence
in which students work in interdisciplinary teams on multi-quarter projects in a learn by doing
format. She is also a member of the faculty team responsible for ongoing development and
assessment of this sequence and the freshman level design sequence.
